What happens if your ETA application is not approved? You must email the Australia Department of Home Affairs. Please do not approach or call the Australia High Commission in person as all applications must be received by email.
An ETA application by email must include the following:
- A completed ETA Additional Information Request Form (download here)
- Copy of passport biodata page (page with passport holder’s details & photo) and passport observation page
- Information to show you genuinely intend to visit Australia temporarily
i. Information about your intended stay & activities in Australia. Include evidence of any arrangements such as paid accommodation bookings and airfares.
ii. List of your family members (including full names and dates of birth). Please indicate which of these family members are travelling with you.
iii. A list of other travel companions (including full names and dates of birth).
iv. A list of family, friends and contacts in Australia (including full names and dates of birth). Please indicate if they are Australia citizens or permanent residents. If not, please indicate their visa status and reason of their stay in Australia.
v. Bank statements showing at least the previous three mohts’ salary payments
vi. Evidence of your employment / commitments that demonstrate your intention to return. This could be:
a. An employer statement indicating your annual salary and approved leave
b. For self employed, business registration documents & financial records (such as bank statements and tax statements)
c. Other evidence of incentives to return such as ongoing education or other commitments in your home country.

- Quote your passport number in the subject line of your email
Processing time for ETA applications is approx 2 weeks.
